The Norfolk Land Trust was created in 1982 to encourage the preservation of natural heritage and open space in Norfolk, Connecticut. This local all-volunteer organization is committed to protecting Norfolk's natural resources for future generations—resources including pristine waterways, wetlands, meadows and woodlands that provide habitat for plants and animals.

Great Mountain Forest (GMF) encompasses more than 6,000 acres of contiguous forestland in the towns of Norfolk and Canaan, Connecticut. They practice sustainable forest management, promote biodiversity and resilience to climate change, support education and research, and welcome all who love the woods.
